Edited version of Dick Costolo (CEO, Twitter) being interviewed by Peter Kafka at D:Dive into Media.
Very Impressed by Dick - seems switched on and knows where he is going. I am still not sure what they can do to outperform both Facebook and Google+ over time though. At the very least, they need to make content discovery easier and allow for searching of historic tweets.
Liked his quote about Twitter though: ”Everybody uses the platform to try to amplify their voice”.
(The same could be said of Google+ and Facebook though..)

CES 2012: WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell on Digital Advertising Budgets & Mobile
He has definitely bought into Mary Meeker’s presentation (see previous post). But also plenty of interesting data points for APAC as well.
Of course, there are plenty of challenges reaching that audience right now. Not convinced we have seen the silver bullet for advertising via mobile yet.

People think aid is abstract and thousands of miles away. I go there and see it. I’m intent on making sure that my money gets to people who need it, and I come back and say it’s working.

Kinect-Powered Windows 8 Laptops Are Definitely in the Works via @gizmodo
great - kinect on the laptop - sounds cool right?
Can someone tell me underwhat circumstances I’d use it? Gesture control - how about a touch screen? Voice control? - there’s a microphone for that ;)
What I’m not sure [of] is that people are realising this… They try to romanticise the past and live in a very romantic present. We are living in a turning point where technology can really make a difference for culture, for art, for a lot of things.
what next for eBooks? Can Amazon/Apple/Whoever save publishers from the fate of the music companies?

Love the look of these “SmartExtras” for smart phones. Basically, a wireless headset, a watch and an NFC tag..
Not convinced by the SmartTags but it is early days for NFC right now so who knows. The Wireless Headset and the SmartWatch look great though.
Good to see Sony innovating again..

Too often, it seems that we are working for the Web instead of it working for us. Piles of RSS feeds, new emails and unread social statuses pile up, trying to take our attention away from the…apologies
Apologies for the spurious posts that have appeared on this blog recently. They came from my posterous account (which you can see here: http://likes.riazkanani.com). I have deleted them as I prefer to only post content here that is my own opinion.
In case you are wondering why I am even using my posterous blog rather than only posting here - well as I implied - the content posted their is generally sourced and written by others and are items that I liked and want to store for later. Sort of like Google Shares but more publicly available.
